Formalin and Formaldehyde are widely used in Operating Rooms, Day Procedure Units and Pathology Departments in hospitals all around Australia. While purchasing your Formaldehyde in cost effective bulk containers, a very real health and safety risk is created due to the increased risk of spill whilst decanting. If you are using the smaller pre-filled specimen pots, how often do they get knocked over or spilt? Our Formaldehyde Spill Clean-up Kit is the perfect kit to have on hand should a Formaldehyde spill occur by providing a safe and efficient clean-up.
Packaging
Our Australian MEDSpill kits are colour coded for easy identification. The bright blue spill kit box indicates it is a chemical spill kit which makes it stand out and is nice and easy to find.
We have a label on the lid of the kit, identifying which chemical this kit is designed to clean up with an expiry date for your kit and on the side of the kit there is a full contents list. The contents list makes it easy to carry out regular auditing of your spill kits to ensure they are complete and ready for use. It is important to note that all chemical kits are single use. If you have followed the clean-up protocol correctly, you will not have any left overs therefore, a full replacement kit needs to be purchased.
Safety Information
The Formaldehyde Spill Clean-up Kit is designed to clean up 11 litres of Formaldehyde or Formalin.
Your kit also comes with a booklet which contains key information about the kit such as SDS for the contents and a spare copy of the clean-up protocol.
Spill Kit Contents
Every chemical is different with its own risks and considerations relating to the appropriate PPE and safe clean-up. A general chemical kit isn’t good enough! If possible – always neutralise the chemical.
When you open up your Formaldehyde Spill Clean-up Kit you will find an easy to follow step-by-step clean-up protocol and a floor sign to advise there has been a fluid spill and to proceed in the area with caution.
We have Formaldehyde Neutralising Wipes to wipe up and neutralise any drips, splashes or sploshes. There is also Formaldehyde degasser and solidifier. Formaldehyde is a gassed based chemical so a speedy clean-up is paramount to stop the gasses from continually spreading. While there are Formaldehyde Neutralising Powders available, they have a long processing time which means the spill sits on the floor while it is neutralising. Our Formaldehyde degasser aids in reducing exposure to formaldehyde gas by immobilising formalin and transforming it to an easily removed semi-solid mass. The resulting mass cools rapidly to minimise formaldehyde off-gassing.
Our Formaldehyde Spill Clean-up Kit contains the appropriate PPE to protect the staff member cleaning up the spill. When selecting the PPE appropriate to this kit, we have consulted SDS for Formaldehyde along with selecting high quality PPE to ensure best practice.
Once spill clean-up is complete, we have even put the appropriate waste bag in there to ensure correct and appropriate disposal.
We spend a lot of time and effort in putting together highly effective and first quality spill clean-up kits so that you don’t have to!
