What’s So Great About MEDSpill’s Chemical Spill Clean-up Kits?

Finding the right Chemical Spill Clean-up Kit can be a real headache and become an overwhelming task with considerations such as; will my kit neutralise the chemical; does my kit contain the correct and required PPE to protect my staff; how much chemical will my kit clean-up; is my kit easy to use?????

Stop right there…. Australian MEDSpill has done all the work for you.

Our Chemical Spill Clean-up Kits have been individually designed for the specific chemical you are working with unique to the healthcare, hospital and medical environments.  A spill kit from industrial suppliers or major hardware stores is not going to make the grade!  We have consulted the chemical manufacturer’s SDS, Australian Standards and WorkSafe Guidelines.

All of our Chemical Spill Clean-up Kits contain the appropriate PPE for protecting staff when cleaning up the kit’s specific chemical.  The PPE requirements for cleaning up a spill of Formaldehyde differ greatly to the PPE requirements for cleaning up a spill of Peracetic Acid or an Alkaline chemical.

A chemical neutraliser is a key component to eliminate or reduce the chemical fumes being released into the area, ensuring it is safe for other staff and patients.  It is vital to ensure that your spill kit contains the appropriate chemical neutraliser for the chemicals you have in your workplace.  A chemical neutralising powder for Formaldehyde will not work on Peracetic Acid or OPA and vice versa.

Our Chemical Spill Clean-up Kits are easy to use!  We provide full instructions for use, an information booklet containing SDS for the contents of the spill kit and the appropriate waste disposal bags which is determined by the Chemical being cleaned up and the method of clean-up.

Browse through our Chemical Spill Clean-up Kit pages.  If you are not sure which Chemical Spill Clean-up Kit is suitable for your chemical, use our Suggestions/Information Page and attach a copy of the SDS for the chemical.  We can then guide you on the appropriate kit for that chemical.

A new chemical has been introduced to our facility; which spill kit do I need?

To determine which spill kit is appropriate for the chemical you are using, you will need to refer to the manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

Noted on the SDS under section one will be the common name for the chemical.  Now check to see if the common name of the chemical is listed under our specified Chemical Spill Kits.  If the chemical does not fall under the common name of either Formaldehyde, OPA or Glutaraldehyde then the Acidic Chemicals or Alkaline Chemicals spill kits will be relevant.  Please refer to these two pages to find out how to determine if your Chemical is Acidic or Alkaline.
